Has anyone used these? I saw them on a show the other night and thought the reasoning for using them was sound but learned a long time ago not to trust everything you see.

Herters had a device you attached to your decoy via a small pulley. The hunter would tug on this line which when from the front of the decoy to the pully near the anchor and to your hand. The decoy would dip forward as if feeding and send out ripples. This was back in the late 50s and early 60 when I was still a single digit midget.

The duck rippler looks pretty dang funny, but I have yet to see it in action. I just stick to plain old jerk strings with some bunge cord

I have not hunted ducks in the Lower 48 for 35 or more years. This will be a first season for me. I've never used all these fancy do-dads that you guys keep talking about. All I ever did was put out the decoys, left a spot for them to come in to, squaked on my horn and waited for them to come in.
Is it harder down here to fool the water fowl because of hunting pressure?

The ducks aren"t as dumd as they were 35 years ago. Hide well, stay still, set out a believable decoy spread,, and let them get within range............ All the basic's are the same. I don't use all those new toys either.

that works great, IMO, as long as the guy next to you isn't using all the new fangled toys.
those wind ducks/jerk strings/etc will do amazing things to instill confidence and get the ducks to set up and glide into a spread in my (limited)experience.
