Winston unit from East
« on: November 12, 2012, 01:46:41 PM »
I've been eyeing the Winston unit coming in from the east side of the unit from FSRD 27 (drive through Taidnapam Park). However, I called the Weyerhauser hotline and I cannot seem to determine if that is motorized or walk-in only based on the road #'s that they provide. Anybody ever entered the Winston unit through this route?

Take up your bow, a quiver full of arrows, head out to the country and hunt some wild game.  GEN 27:3

I have not hunted it but I was told it was gated and part of that road back in there was washed out.  But like I said it was second hand information.

I think I know where you're talking about. It's Port Blakely land, not Weyerhauser, and the gate just a couple miles from Taidnapam Park has been closed for a few years now. It's walk in only.

Pretty sure this is correct.

The gate is almost right after you get off the bridge, and it is Port Blakely.  Closed to motorized Vehicles (except Port Blakely employees who get to drive in and hunt)

The only way to get back into the Winston from the East is like everyone else, is the 3000 line past camp9.
