another newbie question
« on: November 25, 2012, 02:47:02 PM »
Well I bought a Turbo-Dogg, and have yet to see a yote come to call.......alot of other things have come, though.  I have some more basic questions:

1.  Anyone else using this e caller? Your impressions?

2. I suspect I am encountering a difficult time calling for a coupla reasons, first off no snow, yotes still have a ready supply of rodents to eat and easy pickings with no snow. Second, it's right after elk & deer hunting season, yotes have had a steady supply of gut piles and un-recovered animals, to dine on. I suspect when the the banquet dries up and we get some snow and colder temps , things should improve as far as calling goes. Am I wrong on this assumption?

I would say your spot-on on your reasons.  Give them alittle more time to clean-up all the easy pick'ins and then things will start happening.

another one could be that the yote derby in stevens, pend and ferry county has made quite a few educated yotes. If that is the area you are hunting. I ran into a whole bunch of guys last year that ran out and bought e-callers and hit the woods with out any knowledge of predator hunting. Nothing like watching a guy on a stand, smoking sitting up in the middle of a field drinking a six pack  :bash:

I have a turbo-dogg and love it... Called in 2 with mine the other night but couldn't get a shot on them.. It's small, easy to use and loud as hell without distorting.

Probably sent while sitting on the ferry... While using Tapatalk 2

IDK why, I thought you where on the westside. I also hunt the Yakima area. We might have to get together and see if we can call some in.

Blaming the caller for not calling coyotes is like blaming a gun for missing a shot. Watch the wind sit still hide as best as you can. An e caller isn't the magic answer just another tool to help you out. If your not sneaking in and watching the wind or
Moving too much they may be seeing or smelling you before you see them. I've called coyotes in the dead of summer when grass hoppers mice snakes and apples
Are in full swing. Also try to locate them an make sure they are in the area. You can't call em if they aren't there

Brownie28, thank you for your response, I wasn't blaming the caller........Just was asking how others liked their Turbo-Dogg. I like mine so far, for some of the very reasons already stated.
I was trying to verify, my observations while in the field.  I just figured a hungry dog, was easier to call. Than one all filled up on rotting venison and easily caught rodents, that can't hide under 6 inches of snow.... I to, am looking forward to summer to do some calling myself! I figure 2 adult dogs with a den full of pup's, will eagerly come to a call!    Nothing like, multiple mouths to feed to make a dog greedy........

IDK why, I thought you where on the westside. I also hunt the Yakima area. We might have to get together and see if we can call some in.

I think I'd like that, Raul! That would go along way into straightening out the learning curve and would be greatly appreciated!!
