tumor?
« on: November 28, 2013, 04:54:14 PM »
The whitetail doe I killed this morning had a weird lump on her side about mid rib. It was about a 6in circle about an inch thick. I thought it was just fat but the color was more creamy, and the texture was different. It ripped really easy. Also she had a couple mustard yellow collored spots on various spots on her meat in the clear membrane that had tiny white breadcrumb looking chunks under it. Any idea what it is? I trimmed it all off and assume the meat is good. It looked fine and the deer was healthy :dunno:

Do you have any pictures of the meat?

A buddy of mine shot a nice 4pt muley a few years back that had a big growth on it's belly. He cut it off and the meat was fine. I ended up with some of the meat and a whole hind quarter. When  I cut it into steaks I found a perfectly mushroomed rifle bullet. Must have hit the stomach first. No evidence of any injury whatsoever around the lodged bullet. He found his own bullet so this one was from a previous season.
I killed a nice 4pt whitetail many years ago that had a bright green liver. Meat was just fine.
My Dad killed a big 4pt whitetail years back that had a 3 blade broad head buried deep in it's nose from a straight on shot. Darn animals are tough. A lot tougher than us.
