Anyone useing Promo Powder?
« on: December 31, 2012, 10:11:29 AM »
After many years of using Clay Dot, I bought some Promo for my trap reloads. I was given a few bags of Claybuster Fig 8 wads and have found that they are a little longer than the Remington Fig 8 wad a normally use. So, I bought Promo, not only for the cost, but for the fact that it is denser than Clay Dot, requiring less volume to get the required drop weight. I hope there is enough difference to get a good crimp and use up the Claybuster wads.  I have heard good and bad comments about Promo, but two of the men I trust most in this world recommend it and like it so I will try it.

Promo rocks for 12g loads up to 1oz.  But its density can vary from lot-to-lot.  Make sure that you weigh it and don’t just go by the bushing chart.

Copy that! I am gonna start with one size smaller than the bushing I use to use with Red Dot. Scale will be used quite a bit testing drops.
