What a cool Christmas gift!
« on: December 29, 2012, 10:09:43 PM »
Got the best Christmas gift ever! My son in-law invited me to join him on an Idaho Mule deer hunt, and he is picking up the tab for my tag! Anyway, since both of us have never hunted Idaho, can any of you give me some tips on units for over the counter tags?
I am so stoked about the prospects of hunting Idaho!  :IBCOOL:

Here is a little more info. Looks like we are going 2014, Both he and I have never hunted Idaho before, but he is thinking unit 39. I know it is close to Boise, but we both know a guy that has hunted this unit in the past with success. I'm just looking for any tips from you guys.

39 is the most heavily hunted unit in the state of ID. I have some friends that have hunted it every year since I believe 1999. When they get snow they kill some good bucks.  And I mean good bucks. 160 to over 200 inches.  They got one this year that scored 204.  But when it doesnt snow the bucks are a lot smaller.

I have heard snow in the late season is key.
