If you win the lottery the 9.3x74 would be a better round in the drilling due to the rimmed case and if you win the lottery I don't think you have to worry about saving a couple of bucks on brass. Anyway it won't be long until 30-06 brass is banned because it is a millitary round just kidding. I shoot a 35 Whelen and it is very close in power to the 9.3x62 the advantage if there is any is that you can get 286 and 300 grain bullets, where the Whelen is limited to 250's unless you've had it twisted faster when you built it.
There are alot of drillings out there in 9.3x72 which is very close in power to the old winchester 38-55. I used one for control work in the 60's, two barrels of buckshot and the rifle and we were good for just about anything we were working on out to 200yards
