How bout a Weatherby Mark V ?

Got a lead on a super nice weatherby mark V synthetic 243. I notice people either love them or hate them? Why is that? It has a 22' barrel, blued and a synthetic stock. Thanks

Find out how many rounds have been put threw it. They can be great guns, but like any rifle. Some shoot better then others off the same production line. If you can shoot it before you buy it that's always nice when buying used. I have had 5 of them only have 1 left. Weatherby pissed me off and I won't ever buy a new gun from them again.

They screwed me out of a stock. I bought my CFP a bolt action handgun that had a wood stock on it. Well I shot it 6 times after getting it and on my 7Th shot the stock snapped in half right where the pistol grip meets the stock. Well I called them up and they said no problem send the stock in and they would replace it. I sent it in and got a call a week later. They told me they would not pay one cent and I would have to buy a new synethic stock. I asked why they would not cover it. They said there dip S@#$ experts came to the conclusion that I was shooting it out of a mechanical pistol rest. I had never even heard of such a thing and I was shooting it off my caldwell bags. So after cussing them out for a few minutes telling them where there experts could put this so called mechanical pistol rest. I swore them off and have never bought a new weatherby again. I found a stock on a classifieds add and bought it and fixed my gun. Still cost me 175.00 which I should never had to pay because the stock broke.

From a structural perspective, there are a few things I don't like with the action. There is very little rail for running the bolt. It probably passed all the tests, but I feel I have to be too careful when disassembled as not to bend it. The lugs also seem to be a little small on the bolt. But it does have a short bolt lift and heavy bolt, so that helps....

Yeah I was a pretty big weatherby buff until that happened. I sold all of them but 2 and I had more then a couple.
I mean give me a break a mechanical pistol rest? Why the hell would I even use a machine to shoot a gun for me? The only one I have ever even seen was on that show when they did the torture tests on guns. I can't remember the show.
I can't stand when a company has piss poor customer service and does not stand behind it's stuff and to tell me something so stupid really pissed me off. Like I would even own something so dumb.

I personally like the action (it's proven and it's a classic) on the Wetherby Mark V and that is why I own one.

WEATHERBY is outstanding.
Even though some in the previous posts have had bad things happen. You wont find a better rifle for the price. they all have shot well and have been proven time and time again. its another my Ford against you Chevy Debate....
Like maybe an outfitter screws up on one client, then the rest of the world is suppose to hate them! no it dont work that way...
Buy one you will be extremely happy with it....
