I went out today with a fellow forum member and had a fantastic day! (Thanks again for letting me come with you! Hope to blast some birds with you again soon!

)
We were hoping that the fog this morning would lift, but it never did. LOTS of geese heard flying, and they were loving our calling, but we never saw them and I don't think they ever saw us either. Stupid fog! We'd hear them make a wide circle and call excitedly at us, then eventually fade off sounding very disappointed. All of the sudden SPLASH!!! A duck lands to my left! My head swivels and I see the unmistakable bill of a ringneck! Unfortunately, that's ALL I can see peeking out from the large thick clump of reeds in front of me. Well that's not true... I could see one of the goose decoys directly behind him as well

Rats! "Get him!" He whispers. "I can't!" I groan. BOOOOM!!!! He had a clear shot and nails him. Absolutely gorgeous mature drake!
We notice birds seem to be liking the other end of the pond so we decide to move and hope they'll keep coming down that way. We did! Had a couple pintail come in first, I miss my shot (doh!) and he bags a nice drake. We don't even have time to go get the pintail when we spot a pair of ducks coming in low and fast. We quickly hide again and get our chance. I fire and watch the bird fold, then helicopter all the way to the ground

Another Ringneck Drake! Not nearly as nice as the other one, but still a great bird.
We had a couple more birds pass by but never commit to us... and eventually it came time to pack up and head home. A slow day, but in my mind a great day! Can't wait to get out again!
