They payed out in 3 catagories biggest male, female, most coyotes... As i recall you could only  take one place in each catagory, so if you took the biggest male you also could not get the 3rd largest and collec the $ for both payouts... On the other post about the hunt i posted the weights of the largest animals and most # of dogs

Did it years back. I shy'd away since when the winning team rolled in with 27 dogs. Bs.... It sounds like they've changed the process since but I lost all interest in coyote derbies since then. More fun rolling dogs with buddies and putting my $ aside for ammo!
