NE WA turkey hunting private vs. public

Being that turkey hunting is a couple months away i have a question for those of you that had success in the past. Are you guys that hunt around colville finding much success on public lands or is your success predominately due to securing private land that holds turkeys?

I missed a nice Tom last year. I went late season. Hunted public land was into birds every day. And no other hunters around.

Is there more birds on the public land later in the season after the snow melts?

Plenty of turkeys and not a lot of hunters on public land. I'd just go for public unless you know someone that has an abundance on private. No need to work hard to get on the private land though.

I have had access to more private land then most over the years, but I have shot over half of the birds on public land just based on time spent and experience in the area. Not just my birds, but the guys with me also. I do love that private property during the busy times though. Just can't always count on them doing what you want them to. Seems like public birds will act more like a turkey and get shot when you run into them.

Ditto for me also ... my 1st birds were off public land and I still hunt them with sucess. Private land has also been very good to me. Why limit yourself !

I've shot half of mine private and half public. Public land turkeys are a whole different bird than private

All the birds that my wife and I have shot have been on public land. We enjoy being up in the mountains hunting rather than in a farmers field.

Been into birds on public land out there every trip. Bagged a 21lb beauty last spring on public land in that area.

My spring bird last year was from private. But, I've taken more from public and for whatever reason the public birds were pretty satisfying.
