6 month old lab not holding pee well.

He will hold it all night, but a couple times a week he will pee in his crate while we are at work. His crate isn't to big.

 Also, if he is not let out 30 seconds after he eats he will start to pee. Will he grow out of this?

There is a big thread about this that I started a few days ago. The rule of thumb is that a dog can hold their bladders an hour for every month old they are. If you are gone to work all day, a few accidents isn't too bad. Not sure about the peeing after he eats but I think he would grow out of that..

Not knowing how long you are leaving it in a crate i am going to guess a full work day.  That is a bit long.   A properly hydrated dog needs to pee!   How many times do you pee in a work day?

Sounds pretty normal.  My dog will pee when hes excited, a dribble.  Hes 2year boston/eng.bulldog.  Very frustrating but what can you do?  6months hes doing well enuff just needs more time out of crate to pee and drink maybe.  He will get better with age.

No, but he collects anything that isn't nailed down outside and brings it to the front door. Tools that I had no idea where I left them have shown up. Sticks, tape, cans, down spouts. You name it he has brought it.

I was referring to the idea of how often the pee when growing up. Just trying to help...

Sounds like normal behavior to me. Can you take your pup to work with you? It worked great for me. Took him the first 9 months. Crated him in the electrical room and let him out to pee and play on breaks and lunch. Total benefit of having him with me. The bonf is very stron as well. Give it time.

In the seventies, our lab had real problems holding her pee and chewing when she was a puppy.  When she hit 8 months exactly, she turned into the absolute perfect dog.   She didn't do anything bad until she died twelve years later.

I would love that. He is smart as a whip so I'm sure he would pick it up right away. I have seen the antler chunks in the pet store. Do I start there or do I need different bone? Where is the best place to get it?

I'd say feed him outside , build a kennel, and feed hin dried cranberries, just a few to get him the C vitaman he needs for a healthy bladder...but I'm no expert.

i would get actual antlers some fresh ones would be nice , i take my dogs up in the hills with me hoping one of them will have a natural ability to find one lol havent been lucky yet , i let my dogs play with the antlers i do have to get them used to it , but best bet is do research on shed dogs there is a couple videos that can help you as well
