Ok I lived in South Beach. What are you looking to fish for? Theres charters that range from 35 bucks to 1500, depends what you want to catch. You can also do it youself. The keys have allot of bridges (Long Key Bridge) is one. You can fish off them and catch allot of snapper and about 20 other species of fish, you can also wade into the flats all along the keys and catch bone fish, cuda, permit, and if you head into the everglads plenty of large mouth bass, snakehead and alligator gar. So many options..

My favorite thing to catch down there was Tarpon..But you cant eat them. Let me know what species and price range and I can point you in the direction of a good charter or give you more info on DIY. You dont ned a licence in saltwater if your not in a boat.

Definitely a boat charter. Don't want to spend much more than $1000 for a top notch charter. I am extremely experienced fresh and saltwater fisherman and have done everything do it your self from albacore to salmon to lingcod and mako/thresher tournaments off southern Cali 20 years ago but don't know squat about where or more importantly who to go with in Florida. A fun trip for me and wife and kids but real fishing and not tourist boat ride :) .
Thanks again for your info,
Mike

If going with wife and kids do a reef fishing or back country trip out of the keys. many guide services down there. Would call a few now and discuss needs.

http://www.keys-backcountry-fishing.com/rates.htm

If going alone I would book a tarpon or bone fish trip out of Keys. It is a bit early though for tarpon

For an offshore with a family might be able to find a charter for entire family for around $1000

I would also look into a boat trip out to reefs and take family snorkeling . Fun trip and see lots of different fish.

Places in keys can watch and feed BIG tarpon from docks

Thanks ribka,
I put Robbie's on my list to feed the tarpon. Sounds very cool. Gonna watch fishing reports and water temps etc before I decide where and what to fish for.
Thanks again,
Mike

Bass fished Okeechobee once.  One of these years going to take the girls to Disney World...but first bass fishing.  Suspect might be hard to get them interested with Disney World right down the road.

You'll enjoy the back country option with the family. An opportunity to seen FL wildlife, birds and fish for snook, jacks, babyntarpon, sharks, cuda etc. Fun trip
