I went down monday morning and saw tons of roosters.. hitting them was another story :chuckle: didnt see another hunter anwhere. Headed back out in the morning.

Does the res open up for pheasants early or something? According to the regs pheasant doesn't open til the 19th.  :dunno:

Yeah, all upland birds (Pheasant, quail, chukar, huns) open the 2nd weekend of Oct on the res, but it they all close eaarly on Dec 31st like grouse.

The first day of snow will be the next best day to spend with the Yakama's.  Until then they are about the spookiest rooster you will find anywhere.  Wild flushing hens at 300 yds sort of spooky.

It has it's areas that receive less pressure and hold good birds. If your not a group hunter, just go and find a farmer and ask to hunt some land.  The opening weekend is about as bad as it gets with truckloads of guys covering each field, they hide quickly in the orchards and vineyards. The birds stay spooky until the snow hits.
Don't forget to pick up your shells!

Took last year off.  My secret spot became unsecret year before last, which resulted in me getting rained on way to much and even spookier roosters.

Went out this evening scouting for ducks, put my orange on and shot a rooster on the walk in.
