Rifle bag suggestion?
« on: March 03, 2013, 12:15:00 PM »
I am looking for a high end rifle/drag bag right now and not having much luck. I am looking to carry a LR308 (45") and Ar15,so it would need to be a 2 gun bag. Would also be really nice to have a bunch or storage for ammo, mags, ears, range gear.  Would want good protection to protect my investment. Any suggestions on a good high end bag in the 45"+ range?

Check out the Eberlestock bags. Have one for my big gun. Only a single gun, but with the fold out shooting pad, would work nicely or 2 guns. Shoulder straps and plenty of molle buckles for additional storage bags! A-1!

Is it the sniper sled that you have?

This one has good reveiws.

It does, but CTD doesn't carry it anymore and I won't ever buy from them again after their little stunt in December... Might have to see if I can find it somewhere else...

I have to ask, why the 2 gun drag bag, why not carry one and bag the other. I would get the elberstock tactical scabbord and use that as a dragbag with your LR gun and carry the AR on a singlepoint sling, then switchout as needed for the situation when your calling or whatever.

You can either buy the backpack straps or make some, I use my Mystery Ranch NICE frame pack with the scabbord.

Tactically, that makes sense... You would always want to be armed with a long gun of some type, but generally when I am hiking out to my shooting spot in the woods I am not in tactical mode, so I want something I can comfortably carry both the rifles I shoot on a normal basis. If I need a PDW, I still have my handgun that is holstered. Like they always train in tactical classes, the purposes of a handgun is fight your way to a long gun.

I actually ended up getting a 5.11 42" double rifle bag, turns out the internal length is 44.5" so it will fit my longer rifle. I like 5.11 quality, even though some of what you pay for is the name, they make a solid product. What sucks is that by cause of the size, shipping is painfully slow... Hopefully it will make it here by the end of the month.

I bought a $100 Condor drag bag at a gun show that's very similar to these.  I love it.    Since I don't use it 'tactically' (I'm not actually a professional sniper  :yike:)I cut out all the interior straps, and there were a bunch of them.  This is a great bag for carrying both of my muzzleloaders and gear to the range.

It's also great for day-hunting.  I usually ride with my neighbor in his truck.  I can put my rifle, 12 pack, spare change of clothes, and anything else I might possibly want, in this bag, which I just set in the back of the truck, and we're off!  Of course I also take a daypack with hydration.

What more could you need...
