Got back from Hells Canyon scouting Muleys
« on: September 01, 2013, 10:18:31 PM »
Sounds like a few of us are hunting 18 this year... I drew the Deer tag. Went down this week for 3 days and scouted around. It is really awesome country. Can't wait for the season to start. Elk everywhere... they are EASY to see compared to deer (especially when it is smokey and HOT... ) But we did see a lot of does and fawns, smaller bucks and a one that might go 160. Found a few places to start. If anyone has any tips, I am all ears.

Here are a few pics we took:

Great looking country.  It will be a heavy haul out if you get something.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!

my best advice (after hunting 18 for deer one year) is to get as high as you possibly can... there are lots of deer there, but it seems they are in pockets. some areas are all but void of deer and other similar areas are loaded.
good luck!

My cousin seen a buck today that he says is a 200 class deer down there. He is elk hunting, but must be in the wrong area cause he isn't seeing as much as he'd like.
