Border elk

I have been hearing (have not taken time to go myself) reports of many elk, some say 1,000, along the Washington/Idaho border south of Spokane.  The Whitman county food producers (farmers) are getting the elk 'experience'. 
Some of the locals believe elk have moved 150 miles west.  This would seem a great chance for some cooperation between tribes, Idaho and Washington.  Yes, the wolves are with them.  Yes, the local tribe is harvesting.  Will they move home this spring?  What is the real number?  Cow:calf:bull ratios?  Animal condition?  Crop damage budget?  Lots of question.

Sounds like to many people are talking and giving away secrets. Most of the units in the Palouse are any elk, so that should become the new hotspot for a year or two with a 1000 elk hanging around.  :chuckle:

The number seems high to me, but there are some elk pushing across just like they have always done. I dont know that it is any different than any other year.

I havent heard this...there are elk that WINTER there and its about 150 elk... I hunt this particular herd in the fall.

I wtch this herd of elk and there is one big group and several small group, last Sept we wathed a group of 150 and they were followed by 4 wolfs,
