Badlands new 2013 packs: summit and 2200
« on: March 20, 2013, 09:52:13 PM »
Hey guys,

Have any of you tried or seen the all new badlands 2013 packs? Specifically the summit (new4500) or the redesigned 2200? Both look like great packs and I'm trying to figure out which one will work for a three to four day backcountry pack. Looks to me like the new 2200 is larger (2900cubic inch) and the summit is lighter than the old 4500 but the summit might be a bit big for use as a day pack. Anyone seen or heard about these new packs? Thanks!

Interesting.  I am curious what the results are.  I have a Sacrifice.  For almost two years I have been trying to get it to stop making so much noise.

What is your take on the sacrifice? Numbers wise it looks good, large and really light. Do you recommend it or not? Sounds like maybe not because the pack is too loud?? Do you use it as a day pack or as a multi day pack? Also I heard its not good for hauling much weight.

I wouldn't recommend the sacrifice to anyone.  Hated that pack.  Squeaked worse than any pack I've ever owned.  Not good with rain either. Badlands lost me with that pack.  I sold it and ran a blue widow eberlestock last year and it did really good.  Won the tenzing 6000 pack and it looks like it might get the nod this season.  Gonna have to do some trial runs with weight, but I think it might just work out.  Time will tell.

Moved away from Badlands packs. To heavy. Use a Stka Bivy 30 for my daypack. Last year used Tenzing 5000 to pack out my elk. Had abt 75 lbs. in out worked great. Comfortable. The only issue I have is zipping the meat section back. I have to mess with it ti get the zippers to line up right.

I currently have a 3 year old 2800 and won't buy another badlands. Mine will probably be hitting the classifieds in the next couple weeks. I am opting for either a eberlestock (heavier) a kifaru or a stone glacier (light but spendy). I do like the eberlestock gun scabbard and have been playing with one of their packs for a couple months. The kifaru are spendy for good reason I'm sure. I just haven't tried one.
