Nice clean look......and that wood! Any plans for a scope on that?
Planning on doing something special on this gun. Jack O'Connor had a Leupold Mountaineer 4X on his #2 rifle, which these guns are supposed to emulate. In my search for one of those 50's scopes I turned up two, both in pretty poor shape. I contacted Leupold and there is no way to bring scopes in a scratched, worn condition back to life. So that option is out.
After that I bought a brand new Leupold FX II 4X which I plan something special for, but have to make sure I have enough eye relief where it will rest to allow for that something special, as the scope itself is only 10.5 inches long. From what I can see without actually mounting it is, that the ocular end of the scope is going to be pretty even with end of trigger guard. I would prefer it ended about an inch to inch and half back further.
Probably going to play with it this week. O'Connor had Tilden mounts on his .270...forget finding a nice pair of those.

I bought like new, Buehler two piece Model 70 bases and Buehler rings. That will give it that classic look like the Tildens. I have them on other rifles and they are first cabin.
If the Leupold FX II doesn't allow for what I have planned, then on to a Leupold 2.5x8x36 or larger to get some additional length. Trying to keep myself busy here.
