Mudflow access
« on: March 28, 2013, 08:25:06 AM »
Does anyone know when they start allowing access to the mudflow area? Wanna look for some sheds in there but don't wanna get in trouble. Thanks

May 1st but don't bother, there are a lot of people that don't mind the risk.  That thing is picked pretty clean by the 1st.  :twocents:

This is not the year for the mudflow anyway,  the weather hasnt kept them down low.

And yes its picked mostly clean.  The WDFW roll through the flats and pick up all they can find.  Some go home with them,  the rest go in to the shed sale.    :bash:

I was up there this morning, looking down there I'd say 85% of the bulls still had both sides, only a couple missing both sides, and one bull had one side.

There were several rigs parked along the highway with nobody in them, probably hiking in and looking around I was guessing.  :dunno:

Fyi... a guy was spotted down in the mudflow on Wednesday afternoon. Game warden was called but was to late to catch him in bottom. Game warden took down all license plates that where parked on the side of the hwy. he also said that they are guna start watching it more because of all the calls they have got this year..... I wonder if the guys that go down there before may first start elk hunting a month early?

did you spot the guy ?? and are those two offenses really in the same category ?

also the whole thing where the gamies harassing people parked along the highway needs to stop..parking is not illegal..walking across the road is not illegal..shed hunting the Margret is not illegal..neither is hiking..or yote hunting..its amazing how much money is spent "protecting" the mudflow...

How do you get points for turning in someone for tresspassing? There is no such thing as "shed poaching" if you are caught in the mud flow its a criminal tresspassing ticket. And unless you are chasing elk around  you cant get charged with harrassment. That being said you should still obey the rules. And as for the wardens picking up the horns i think rather than deturring people from going in early its adding to it.

i guess he was because the points reward system is for turning in poachers. Since there is no season or licence required for shed hunting you cannot poach them.

Information that contributes substantially to an arrest of another person for violation of Title 77.15 RCW, WAC 220, or WAC 232, including the loss of fish, wildlife, or damage to WDFW property, could be eligible for a cash reward. Hunting bonus points (up to 10) may be awarded for violation information about illegal hunting or killing of big game or an endangered species. Bonus points provide a greatly improved chance of drawing special permits for hunting. Bonus points can be applied to only one special hunt category each time a reward is approved. If more than one individual is involved in providing the poaching information, the associated reward is normally prorated amongst them.

Isn't harassment of wildlife considered "hunting" in the regs? Look up the definition of hunting. Also there is a season...
