Will coyotes kill cougars ? Interresting !

lb for lb cats whoop a$$, must have been more coyotes not pictured for them to be so scared.

there were 5 of them.     Wolves intimidate cats all the time.   There might have been some history here.  Little cats though, just like hyenas and LIONS I suppose, if you get enough of them.

Those are 5-6" round posts, them is some kittens right there. a tom or a full size cat would pimp slap a yote like it was a ball of yarn

Kittens maybe the coyotes would have a chance. Full grown cat, no way. It would be like Obama against the great Cassius Clay!

Pretty cool picture indeed a hawk 2 yotes and 2 cougars in one pic! I know that the coyotes will kill a bobcat when they get a chance so I would think if there was a couple of them they would probably kill a small lion. I have also heard of a few lions eating yotes in the winter.

I could see the cats staying there when the people were taking pictures. Weird to see coyotes just standing around like that. Most of the time at least in this part of the country if they hear a rig even start to slow down they are running for the next county

a full-grown cougar would be a no-no for coyotes to tackle, but kittens--easy pickin's.  There's probably just the two coyotes around, since at this time of year they are usually paired up for mating, and protective of their territory...

The original article said 5.     It was on the boundary fence of a game preserve.

Ya, but I figured it was from the people taking the picture.  The kitten in the lower portion is hiding it's head in a classic "you can't see me" pose.

The top kitten is stressed at the camera as well,  only has one ear flicked back to the yotes.


The human/s are the thing scaring these kitties

I don't know. I would think more of it as the 5 yotes that are messing with them

Sorry...didn't read the article.  Just looked at the picture.  Regardless, it looks like the cats are stuck between the hated coyotes and the hated humans.

They wouldn't have much luck with an adult lion of course. That would likely turn out bad for the coyotes. Full grown lion can kill a lone wolf. Adult deer will run off a couple coyotes. Lots of variables though. Age, number of animals involved, etc. No set in stone rules depending on the variables.

One more reason hunters should not kill female lions. They have young almost 70% of the time and can have kittens any time of the year.
