Ok, any suggestions on retrieving decoys in water above your waders with NO boat?

Send your dog after them!! It works for me, And she has never mistook the decoys for a retrieve on a real duck.

You can use a fishing pole with a big treble hook, works great and also works great for retrieving ducks.

put all the decoys you have in your bag, then hop on and ride your decoys like a raft. You can then paddle out and get the other ones. :chuckle:

I bought one of those avery decoy adjustable decoy retrievers.
Just be sure you dont bend the sucker! If it bends while extended, it wont go back in!  :'(

Anyone know if they have those at Sportsmans?  I need one like ASAP so I can test it out this weekend when I go scout my spot.  It kind of sucks because the area I want to go has a slough, but no boat access :( unless I want to pack my 12' aluminum in 1 mile.

Make a grappling hook with a little buoy above it,   one of those buoy's that are like the size of a pop can.  Tie it so you are able to adjust the depth of it.  Or a big treble hook with a buoy,  If you don't have a buoy on it it can get caught on the bottom and is gone!  I use para cord on mine,  keep it small so it fits in your blind bag.

I just saw a retriever pole at Sportsmans...thought about buying one, but passed. If I'm thinking of the same slough you are, be careful, the bottom is pretty mucky in places....it gets pretty deep.

Bought it tonight.  18' decoy retriever.  Hopefully I can get deep enough to get my deeks where I want them.
