« on: April 08, 2013, 11:04:19 AM »
Finished up a Ruffed Grouse that was taken late this last season.  Since we don't get many late season Grouse that are fully plumed out I was able to mount this one Strutting.  Hope you enjoy the pic's.  Alyssa

Wow, that's a beautiful mount. I really like the colors on the breast and that tail is awesome. Nice job.

thats one of the better strutting grouse mounts I have seen. IMO a very tricky pose to get right.

Nice mount Alyssa! It's that time of the year when you hear them strutting and drumming while in the turkey woods. Very pretty bird.

Very nice! I've always wanted to get a grouse mounted. What is the best time of the year plumage wise to harvest one for a full strut mount like that?

Thanks everyone!  From about November on, they are pretty much full plumaged by then.  Sometimes you can get lucky in late October if it's a mature bird, but the rule of thumb is, the later in the season the better.
