Matheny elk report
« on: October 04, 2008, 03:40:53 PM »
Well,

I passed up a 5 x 6 270 plus bull on the opener. Chased 5 bugling bulls for 12 non stop hours in some steep and deep country. Got a short view of a huge bull that crept in to our cow calls pretty close to the park. He must have winded us, because he got out ot town quick after just being 30 feet away. The rains came the second and third day. The elk action came to a halt with lots of rain and high winds. I drove back to Enumclaw to spend a day and a half with my family, and will hit it hard on Monday, and finish off the season on Friday.

I think if I see that 5 x 6 again, I will cap off this time around !

Cool.  We use to hunt the crap out of that area, especially around Sam's Ridge etc.  Lotta bears around there as well.

Thanks for the update. Did you hit those "golf courses" along the river?

Goodluck Brian, by the way I saw your ram story in the fool. Congrats
