Livingston Boat

Picked up a new to me boat the other day!! 13 footer with trailer and all...pretty good deal. I'm pretty stoked to get out and get some good trout fishing done this summer and maybe a few bass!!  Gonna look to add a gas motor this summer to her and get a different paint job done, for now i'll use my electric to get around.

I am looking for that exact boat.   It is amazing how many people abuse and drill holes all over those livingstons.  That one looks to be in great shape.  If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for it?

Yeah it is pretty clean, the interior paint is chipping but not too worried since I'll be painting it anyway, need to sand and paint the trailer as well. I paid $600 for the combo. Everyone I know that has had or has livingston loves em so it should be perfect!

I've known the Livingston family for most of my life.  John and David (sons of David Sr.) are still designing and building boats in Kent. Great guys and a family name you can count on! These older Livingston boats are awesome boats and are literally unsinkable.  They are very stable with multiple people, even in rough water.  That boat will handle like a champ with a 15ph outboard.  Great find and an awesome deal if it's that photo speaks to it's overall condition.

Yea it is in good shape, the photo is from yesterday I just got done pressure washing it after it had been sitting for a few yrs. I plan on paiting it OD green with some shadow grass stenciling for a litle duck hunting at times. I had a 12 footer aluminum but it was not stable at all. Im stomed for opening day!

Update** I picked up a nice looking good running older 10hp johnson for my livingston..I was gonna wait till later this spring or summer but couldn't pass up the deal!! I'm super excited now  getting her out tomorrow or sat morning for a test run! to some this may not be a big deal but to me its my first real boat combo and I'm happy I'll be able to get out and enjoy fishing again!!

I had a couple 10 ft Livingstons, very stable boats.
On one, I installed seat and  a console steer setup mounted fwd on the center and ran a 9.9 Johnson. That thing was a fishing machine out at Point no Point.

Congrats on a great boat!  My dad had a 13' Livingston that I sort of took over back when I was in high school.  I spent almost everyday in the summer on that boat.....and many days after school.

It had a 9.9 Johnson on it until somebody decided to steal the motor right off the back of the boat (while it sat around back next to the garage).  That motor was replaced with a 20 hp Evinrude. 

The 9.9 was okay, but the 20hp did much better on there.  If I remember right, it was rated for 35hp.....

Awesom boat. Have a friend that used his out in the San Juans with a center consol those boats can really take some waves! Not very light for duck hunting, but very stable.

We have a 10 footer with a MinnKota.Fish Slayer! Thousands of fish over the years Son is itching to go trout fishing always like the happiness on opening day.
 I will be passing it on to him soon.Thiswill make three generations of fishing

Just picked this thing up tonight.  Super excited to get it out on the water.  It came with a 15 hp motor and I would like to buy an electric motor for it.  How many ft / lbs of thrust would you look for with a boat like this.  It is a 12 footer.

40 lb Thrust 12V would do great on there.  20yrs ago when I used to fish out of a 13' Livingston I had a bow mount 28lb Thrust Min Kota, and it did fine on there.  Electric motors today are higher thrust and more efficient, I think a 40lb would be good.

I had a rear mount 28 lb thrust Minkota on my 10 ft, on speed setting 4 it would scoot.
I use to use the battery out of my truck. I would drive up, take out the battery and run the Minkota until it had just enough to get back to the dock, put it back in the truck and drive home, LOL

I finally bought a marine battery years later.

Nice set up    I have a 38lb thrust and I got a 46lb from my buddy who wasnt using it anymore, The 38 worked but the 46 is better. Thats all I have been using lately, havent ran my 10hp but 2 times since picking it up. Loving my boat so far!! Glad to see you finally found a nice one!! Congrats
