If they're mailing a check I'd hold it for a few days to make sure its cleared and not NSF.  :twocents:

You could do it through paypal if you don't want to wait for the mail.

I ONLY deal with USPS money orders.  Beware of cashier's checks.  They can be counterfeited easily.  You can take the USPS money order to the post office, they will cash it there for you too.
Nothing witty here.... move along.

Same here.  USPS money order is the way to go.

I will NOT use Paypal!  Gun control advocates will never get a penny from me.  I won't even use the "gift" option.

Sometimes it takes longer than a few days.  I always call the payees bank....explain to them I'm in the process of shipping something to one of their members.  I give them check#, date, amount, account # etc. and ask if it has cleared.  So far, never a problem.  Last thing you want to do is send it off and then get a bad check or stop payment.  However, most folks are honest....but there is always that chance of a bad apple.

Otherwise....Postal Money Order....USPS has a verification hot line.

Must have changed it, or something. I know it used to be $500 max.

Since when is it ok to ship a gun to anyone but yourself? If you are selling a gun ship it to a FFL so they run the background check or am I missing something?

Just to make sure, this is a rifle your shipping right? A pistol has to be sent by an Arms Dealer and received by an Arms Dealer.

Well, maybe he is shipping it to someone with an FFL. He did not specify that in the post. But either way you need to have the buyer send payment. It also could be that he's shipping it to someone in the state. If it isn't going out of state then no FFL is required.

Since when do gun owners want to stop universal background checks and other gun control bills and then encourage everybody to make sure they get background checks done

If you use the USPS system, you have certification the funds are valid.   Depending on the state your in, shipping rules can be complicated.  Some require different shipping regulations.  Federal regulations kick in when you cross state lines in which the firearms must be shipped to a licensed dealer.
