Bass-cation is coming to an end...
« on: April 22, 2013, 10:07:22 PM »
Well, my bass fishing vacation is running out of time  :'(

Been pretty productive overall  Only skunked one day out of 5 that I fished  :IBCOOL: Spent Friday resting, Friday night was date night with my wife and Saturday was another wifey day

Got the jon boat ready Sunday for her first fishing trip of the year and was not disappointed  :chuckle: Not much info to share as I fished a "secret" lake today... My best friend of 39 years swore me to secrecy on this lake about 15 years ago, so it's not my idea to keep it a secret, although I can't argue with the logic on this one!

As usual I was the only one on this lake and I hit my first fish on a jig at 6:58am, she went 5.0lbs even. I did not get another bite until noon! It was windy all day so I made my way over to the side the wind was blowing to and started throwing a spinnerbait through the pads.....to give you an idea of how fast it happened I checked the pics on my phone for the time of day the pic was taken and it goes like this:

6:58am = 5.0lber jig
12:00 = 4.5lber spinnerbait
12:06 = 5.2lber spinnerbait
12:14 = 5.8lber spinnerbait
1:53 = 4.4lber spinnerbait

Crazy!! Not unusual for this lake but more often it's 3-4lbers and much more consistent with catches in the double digits more often than not! I did catch one more 4.2lber but did not take it's pic as I was almost back to the boat launch....some of the pics don't do the fish justice (difficult to take them by yourself with a phone and fight the wind and pads at the same time!) you get the idea however  :) in all, 6 fish today, 29.1lbs total weight, average of 4.85lbs per fish and the 5 biggest went 24.9lbs!! I'll take that all day long!

Only 2 more days of vacation left....gotta make em count!
