Where to go around tri-cities.
« on: October 06, 2008, 01:44:26 PM »
Hey guys, i'm new to the forum...found it acouple weeks back and decided to join today. I'm a college student and go to in pasco at CBC. I'm a big deer hunter...i hunt klickitat county, close to bickleton it's pretty consistent and produces good bucks every year. I moved to pasco about 3 weeks ago for school and have been getting the itch just to go scouting and see some animals...i dont feel like driving 2 hrs to bickleton to scout although i did yesterday. I'll be hunting opening weekend in klickitat county. But i was just wondering if there is any stateland around here, i don't plan on hunting it and i've heard the state land around here is pretty crowded during the season. I just love to find deer and i always get the urge to go out and put my binoculars to work..if anyone could point me in the right direction i'd appreciate it. Oh yah...how is the coyote hunting over here? I don't want to have to leave my 220 swift in the gun case all year ;)
Ruger brought back the .220, i just shoot it.

You know you're not too far from Basin City and I understand there are a lot of nice bucks taken in that area if you can get landowner permission but I hear it's pretty easy to obtain seeing how there are a lot of orchard owners who hate deer.

My grandfather used to hunt on a mountain called Jump Off Joe outside of the Tri Cities but I have zero clue as to whether or not you can still hunt around there or if it's all covered with houses.  I hear there are still some antelope transplants in that area.

Another idea is that you're not too far from Hanford and there are a lot of opportunities around there but you must check regulations obviously.

I wish I had more first hand experience to offer in the tri cities; I was born and raised there until I was eight but I've never hunted around there.
