Columbia sturgeon guides
« on: May 12, 2013, 10:41:13 PM »
Was thinking about doing a guided fishing trip in the future and was wondering for those who have done this who have you gone with and how was your trip. Wanting to go for keeper sturgeon not oversized, but oversize would be fun to catch. I have never eaten sturgeon before but heard its awesome. Thanks for any input.

If your on the Westside you could tag along with my Son and I on the lower Columbia and Bonneville dam for free.  We catch a couple keepers a year.  I just sold my boat so would be from the bank but we still do pretty good.  If you really want a guide I would look at the Sea Breeze out of Illwaco, we have done good with them.  Mid June seems to be the best time.  Last year was kind of slow but who knows about this year.

Took the kids out with Elmer hill of mid columbia in April.  He did a great job keeping the kids busy catching fish.

Charlton Deep Sea Fishing, Mark Charlton his number is 503-338-0569 he is a friend of mine who is based out of Warrenton Oregon. We used to fish with him when I was in high school every year we would take a charter out for sturgeon with family and friends and Mark always went the extra mile to make sure that we had the best opportunity to get fish!  Now that I have a job on the other side of the state that conflicts with the sturgeon fishery on the lower Columbia we do not get to fish as much with him as we used to, but when I have clients that are over in Astoria and are looking for some one to take them out fishing and I am not down there myself fishing I always recommend Mark. His website is www.charltondeepsea.com he is one of the best down there especially when it comes to sturgeon!

Hope this helps
