need New backcountry Camera--any ideas?
« on: May 06, 2013, 08:04:37 AM »
I've got a point and shoot digital, but need to upgrade with a better zoom, and something that can handle backlight better, but not too technical and still compact for backpacking.
Any suggestions?

If you're not looking for a detachable lens DSLR, I've been shooting some sports with a new Canon SX50 that has up to a 1200mm zoom. I haven't used it much at all for wildlife/terrain/field shots yet, but I am surprised at the light gathering ability of this camera/lens. Less than $450.
