Leaving in a few minutes, to go chase some gobblers til friday. Camping on the LPO, stop by and say hi if you see a lifted blue dodge at a camp. Hopfully we can take a couple long beards home
. Cant wait to put these awsome phelps calls to use.

The birds are probably hanging out in the shade and saving their energy for when it starts cooling off this evening ... keep the faith brother, it should get exciting after 06:30 !

No birds down yet, its really slow! Had gobbler going nuts on private land next to us but he had hens. Other than that nothing.... Been all over the place and covered lots of ground. Not hearing or seeing much sign.
Getting a little discouraged. Thought about heading down to Dayton because I know it so well. But I don't want to give up on the "turkey capital of Washington"
. Heading back out. Hopefully i can locate a bird!

I took my 1st turkey on the LPO ... out Buffalo Wilson and just across the bridge, park and go up the hill along the fence line (a bit left) ... just before the top of the ridge ... should be birds gobbling all around early morning ... good luck !

Got home last night. No birds down.... had some close encounters and saw lots of other critters. It was hot and the birds were not making a peep for nothing except at night on the roost and early morning. Located a total of six different gobblers on the whole trip. We tried ambushing a group of birds and a coyote busted that!
Over all it was a great trip. Camped all over the place, and ended up hunting alot north of colville. Knocked on some doors and everyone was more than happy to let us hunt. (sending smoked salmon their way soon). Its always difficult learning a whole new area without a scouting trip to get an idea of where to hunt, but i will be back next year hopefully to kill my first Merriams tom!

Came. Back last night. Saw less birds than ever. Gobbles on private land along LPO.
Buddy with first turkey hunt missed a Jake.
Had some hens come in and one coyote. Was so hot in the afternoon. 97 one day.
Slept on our cots in a tent undies only.
Had a great time four days there wasn't another camp any where on the LPO.
Maiden run for my new truck.
