Tuna fishing guide needed??

Jim is on fish all the time, and his boat never breaks down... not sure where you got that information but it is total bull. I've been on Epic several times since Jim bought it, and I bought his old boat, so we buddy boat every weekend.  I've never seen him with problems except the first time we went out for halibut when he switched tanks and got some air in the system, after bleeding them out, he came back in on his own power.   Just setting the record straight on Epic.

I also happen to know Jim was catching tuna for 10 years before Mark ever got an off-shore boat, so while Mark may have fished more days lately as Jim runs a full time business and only fishes weekends for the most part, Mark certainly hasn't got the overall experience fishing the ocean that Jim does. 

Don't get me wrong, I love fishing with Mark - he's totally got it dialed in and his boat seems nice (Only chartered with him on his sled).  The only problem I see with Mark is that he is usually fully booked.

Hey I wasn't trying to bash you at all Jim. I've met you and talked to you several times. Like I said, you are a nice guy and have an awesome fishing boat. I do remember you having some problems with your boat when you first got it... not saying its a piece of junk at all, you had some bugs to work out and sounds like you've got it fixed. When asked who I would recomend for a charter I usually start with Mark, simply because thats where I have heard the most referals. You are always second on the list... I always suggest the Epic, and have even stated that I would pick you over Mark if given the choice simply because of that sexy boat of yours.

I just spent Saturday and Sunday fishing with Jim on the Epic. It was my first time with him and I'll say he gives 110% to make sure everyone has a great experiance. His boat  is first class all the way as is all his equipment. He's as good as they get and I hope to do more trips with him in the future. I'd recomend him to anyone !   Randy

no wonder it is always booked up.  One of the most highly recommended guides runs 6 guys at a time and the other only fishes weekends.  Sounds like some of you weekend tuna warriors need to get your guide licenses.

LOL! I know how you feel, it was one of the main reasons I bought my boat!  Unfortunately the number of guides fishing tuna and salmon are limited by the 6-pack licenses available.  Even though there is no limit on Tuna, to guide you have to have a license.

Just to clarify.
The 6 pack licence is the captains Coast gaurd licence. It entitles him to run with up to 6 passengers. Anyone who qualifies can get a 6 pack CG licence. It does not entital you to be able to fish at all.
 
It has nothing to do with the coveted, limited, charter licence they are also required to have on the salt water. These are not produced and you must find one thru a broker from someone who holds one and either wants to sell, or lease there licence. They are also number of rod specific. Guys with 20 rod licences are not usaully gonna break them up if you only want to fish 6.
They can be very expensive to buy or lease.

I meant the offshore salmon license, thanks for making that clearer.  You need to have a salmon charter license to guide for Tuna. You also need a USCG license but as you said anyone can get that without also having the charter license.  FYI, rods are not limited for tuna, you can have as many rods as you can run, but only the # of people you have a license for.

Hey are you the same epic that is always fishing off la push? Go with mark your first trip, we killed the tuna. Back before five the same day!
