Paratarp with stakes (no poles) under 20 oz with lots of stakes. Go-Lite SL 4 with pole, stakes, vent covers, and stove jack, but no stove, no nest, no floor, is between 2 1/2 and 3 pounds. 

The Paratarp would be snug with 2 guys, but very doable for a few nights for 2 guys if you can leave the packs outside.  The SL 4 handles 2 guys for as many days as the 2 guys can handle. We've done 2 guys with all gear in the tent and wood stove for as much as 9 days.  Its footprint is about 90 square feet, almost all of which is very usable.

I've posted these photos before, but repost them for convenience.  It took me one night in a floorless tent to become a believer in that concept.

I/we use the SL4 as a packed-in base camp, use the Paratarp for multi-day bivouacs out from there, if the weather is threatening, and use just the bivy bag (Ti-Goat Omni) for nights with predictable good weather.

3 person but for 2 with gear plenty of room, snug for 3 to sleep weighs in at 3lbs 8oz WITH footprint. had it in a rain storm (straight down poor) last weekend stayed dry no issues

Ok. Call me dumb, but how do you all stay dry in a tarp tent in real wet side downpour? Dig a Trench? Bivy? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of a 2lb tarp? Seems like any place flat enough to sleep is going to puddle up with water? I'm kind of leaning towards a jungle hammock for this reason.

Yup a trench around the tent, a few inches away and the dirt you dig up should be placed at the base of the tent to make a seal.

Yes, to the bivy.  Mine weighs 6 oz. I've also used a piece of Tyvek/house wrap as a ground cloth under my bag before I had the bivy.  I live in Western WA, but have never used my floorless tents in a really heavy Western WA downpour, so can't comment on how effective they would work, but I have used them in rain and snow without issue--well, once I had issues, but I learned an easy lesson about placement and puddling

How good is that iron goat bivy?  If it isn't going to rain do you even need a tarp over?  If the ground is dry when you arrive can you do the bivy, the tyvek and the tarp and survive fairly nicely in the rain?  What is your weight then when you add the tarp, tyvek and bivy?

Will the bivy keep you dry if the ground is already wet? 

Trying to learn, I currently pack in probably a 7lb 4 person Cabelas XPG tent will full rainfly because I HATE getting wet.  Works for 2 people, but I know I could go lighter.  Trying to figure out what I'd do for a solo option and in different weather conditions, like what can I get away with if I know it wont rain?

I used to be the guy who worried about tent weights. Was obsessed about light weight. I do a ton of spike camp hunts. Here is what i learned. 2 pounds more is not a big deal...some will argue.....but for me...an extra 2 pounds is WAY worth the more comfort and room when spiking for 5 days and raining like hell. I will take the more room and extra dry storage vs weight any day.

Sorry for thread hijack. Thanks for the info.  I did a SE Alaska wilderness deer hunt a few years back with a hunting partner and we were pretty much hypothermic as it rained sideways for three days strait.  Even in a solid tent EVERYTHING was dripping wet.  Trust me it was no fun getting up regularly at night, doing jumping jacks, and wringing sleeping bags out.  The hunting on the other hand was epic during the lulls.  Ah, the memories.

I've had no issue with the Omni bivy.  If it is not going to rain, I don't use the tarp over bag and bivy--just pull out the bag with bivy over it and sleep direct on the ground-nothing overhead.  I keep the bag in the bivy the whole hunt.  I only used the tyvek before I had the Omni bivy.

If the ground is dry or wet, the bag in the bivy under the tarp is fine.

Weight depends on which tarp. The paratarp with stakes is, as I said earlier, about 20 oz. Bivy is 7oz (I had checked the Ti-Goat website and it says 6 oz, but I think that is the new, upgraded bivy).  I don't use the tyvek anymore, but it doesn't weigh much and I don't have a scale for it.  If I use the SL4, its 2 1/2-3 lbs. with stakes and pole. Add in your bag weight for any of those combos.

It took me a few nights to figure out how comfortable different combinations were. I was really surprised how much warmer I slept with even just the paratarp.  Blocking the wind makes a huge difference.  If it is really wet or really cold, then I really like the SL4 and woodstove.  That combination weighs about 2 lbs less than the XPG and sitting in your shirt enjoying the warm dry air when its snowing outside is amazing.  I used to be a floored, dome-tent guy; not anymore.  Don't get me wrong, I still prefer the 10' x 16' wall tent, 4-Dog wood stove, and about 200 lbs of gear as long as I don't have to carry it in on my back.

This year I am going with a Eureka Solitaire.  I bought it as a "second" from Eureka for something like $35.  I cannot tell what, if anything, is/was wrong with it.  The tent lists as 2lbs 9oz, but I bet I can shed a few ounces off of that, relying on stakes that I make myself, cutting out all of the "California" tags, cutting the zipper tabs, etc.  It has a nice vestibule that is big enough for my pack and to be able to cook in, that's important.
