Anchor fishing with dr's is pretty relaxing vs jigging those big heavy weights all day. I've been out to the prairie and the SW corner 1 time each and yeah the fishing was lights out. But I hear ya about needing a boat to do it. I was in a 23' Seaswirl that belongs to my brothers friend. My bro's 18' hewes could only handle it on the best of days and even then its pushing it. If memory serves, the prairie is about 8 miles NW of the SW corner and about 38 miles total. We caught some nice lings out there. From what I hear there is some great salmon fishing to be had there as well (big kings are the rule.)
Tuna is definately on my to do list! I missed a chance to go last summer in my bro's friends boat. Hopefully I will get to tag along this summer for a trip. They make it sound like a blast, run out and go for tuna then fish salmon on the way back in.
