Looking for a Lab Pup

Not interested in papers, not going to show it, or breed it,  just a family dog that that has lost a ground to run and play. Someone to pal around the mini-farm with.

Family dogs can have hip problems, blindness,  and other genetic issues just like show or trial dogs. Those issues can cost some serious bucks to deal with.  :twocents:

i'd give cindy meyer at rocking m kennels a call they take in labs . she raises labs and really knows them.

I think Stilly's point is spot on.
You can get any lab and save a few bucks up front. If you get one from a reputable breeder, you can have parents certified to have clear elbow/hips/eyes/etc. (all hereditary). No guarantee those conditions will not appear, but decreases the chances tremendously. May cost a bit more upfront, but can save a ton in vet bills and heartache later.
We got our lab from a small breeder in Yelm for I think 400$ and he's certified on health and we couldn't be happier. I'll see if he's got pups soon.

If you just want a pet with lab qualities I'd seriously look at a "lab mix" and there are a ton of those around. Too many  backyard labs are bred with little thought to genetic issues. If you get a mix, at least one of the parents was smart enough and physically able to "hop the fence" :chuckle: :twocents:
