Toutle access?
« on: October 13, 2008, 08:42:07 AM »
I know a lot of you guys have some good info on this unit.  I have a buddy who drew the rifle tag and cant get anyone from the state to answer his questions.  With his special draw card he got a letter that said he will receive a map and keys a week before his hunt opens and that was it.  Can you camp in the unit or where is the best place to camp?  He wants to scout the unit but thinks he can't until the week before his hunt opens, is this correct?  Any info would be appreciated and I will post pics if he kills.

I do not believe you can camp in that unit.  I was drawn for a permit, and received a letter with the gate code to drive in.  I think once u have the letter you may be able to drive in and scout, but no 100 percent sure on that.

Alot of it is state land.   He can camp any where he wants on that.

Kid Valley has a nice campground.
If it flies, it dies.

yes you are correct as long as you have the letter and the keys you may gain access to scout.  like stated before there is alot of state ground within the toutle unit and you may camp on it, just not on weyerhauser land
