Flowmaster super 44
« on: April 19, 2013, 08:17:52 PM »
Anybody have any expieriance with a flowmaster 44 series muffler? I want to get a better sound out of my f150 with a 5.4 but I don't want anything obnoxiously loud. I was planning on cutting out the stock muffler and just welding the flowmaster on keeping the rest of the exhaust system stock. Has anyone done this or something similar?

i did it to my 98 tacoma with a v6 and slaped on a 44 muffler it will give it sound but no performance gains it you want gains go for duel exhaust or a single cat back exhaust with a high flow cat

I've got a 70 series Flowmaster on my Chevy truck. It sounds nice but not obnoxious. I had a Corsa system on it but it sounded really loud. I'm not into that anymore. I wouldn't expect any performance gains unless you put a more free flowing cold air intake on it too, and then gains would only be minimal. I have no experience with the 44's.

Yeah I don't expect any performance gains just looking for a better tone, and a little louder exhaust. I don't need to set everyone's car alarm off though.

Meth heads stole my catalytic converter so I just ran it as a straight pipe and increased it from 2.5" to a 3" exhaust.  Exhausting for of the 300 I6, it sounds pretty good.  Lost a little bit of the low end torque but gained some top end performance and gas mileage.

i like the magnaflow mufflers for sound better than flowmasters.
they are nice and quite at idle but have a good deep sound during acceleration.

Yep.  Had Magnaflow put on my Chevy. Nice sound. Not obnoxious.

I have th flowmaster 44 on my f150 w/ the 4.6. It sounds nice, but not obnoxious and I don't notice a drone rolling down the highway.

Ended up going with the original 40 series. Quiet at idle, almost stock, but when you get on it, it really wakes up!

Same with my chevy 1500.  I put mine on at the same time as my CAI and noticed some gains, mostly throttle response.
