Leopard Cur Pups
« on: December 13, 2025, 10:26:07 AM »
Took my two 6 month old Leopard Cur pups out for a run yesterday.  Trying out the new knee.  I was able to walk a mile for the first time in a VERY long time.  I will start these guys in the spring on bear. I will get them on some coon before bear season.

Yes, they open good.  They generally start later than a lot of hounds.  I don't really start them much before 9 to 10 months old.  They mature a little slower.

It really does.   Can't wait to get the other knee replaced and healing.

Two of the best cat dogs i had the pleasure to hunt with where cur dogs. They where brother and sister and silent on track fair tree dogs and female was growly at tree. But when they left the road a cat was going to climb or get caught on the ground. They where not pack dogs and
many guys would not own them but they sure where hide dogs.

Did a road trip last week, 3850 miles round trip in 4 days.  Kicked my butt!  :)  Last day I did 1137 miles in 19 hours.  Way too old for that crap!  Had good weather, lots of wind in WY, CO and KS, but dry roads.  On the way back lots of wind in SD, WY and MT.  Dry roads except for 200ish miles in WY and MT, near whiteout conditions on the last day.  Took Boone down to Illinois to run coons for the next three months.  They have tons of coons and I have a young guy who knows Leopard Curs and will hunt him 5 days a week.  Then in late April I'm meeting him in MI at Leopard Days and swapping out his brother, Crockett.  He'll then get three months of coon hunting.  Hopefully at the end of those 3 months we are about ready to move back to MO.
