New to the forums and to trapping wondering if anyone knows of any fur buyers near tri cities

Not sure about fur buyer, however I am the receiving agent for NAFA for wa. And OR. So if you would like to send your furs to auction I can help you with that. Last year I did a route trough the tricites and I will again next year.

I would like to see if I can have you stop by as well.  Is there a special way that you want the furs saved? tube and dry them?

Dew 1 the furs need to be skinned stretched and dried to go to the auction. If you don't know how to do this I can help teach you or for a fee I can put them up for you. If you have any more questions let me know.

They key to getting started is to not get discouraged but realize there is a lot of work, talent and experience needed to get good at putting up fur. Every fur has a basic standard and then there are all the personal touches guys have learned over the year. I would suggested you identify the animals you are going after, research the standard and then try and find videos to guide you through. In my opinion one of the most satisfying aspects of trapping is putting up good fur and getting those top lot pins for my hat.

Hmm tagging this.  I'm been thinking about getting into fur. My dad use to shoot and take coyotes to the auctions. He really enjoyed it. Quit when the prices dropped. But he can still skin and stretch a yote quite well! Can anyone say what prices were averaging last season for furs? I'm also in tri cites.

that helped perfectly. for hunting, skinning and having taken to an auction (no trapping) I just need a normal small game license here right? id be doing coyotes and coons if I did it.

That is correct. No need to get a trappers license to sell fur taken while hunting.

that's what I thought. where do the auctions usually take place?

For the big auctions NAFA is in Toronto, FHA is in North Bay Ontario and in Tukwilla WA. If you wan to go local OTC has auctions in OR.  I  don't have their shedule yet.
Also some local state auctions. OTC probably the closest to you though.
The big auctions you will need to find an agent and ship. OTC you can attend in person, maybe a learning experience seeing what others fur looks like.

Lets not forget George Brady, he buys fur and is a fur harvesters receiving agent, also stops in the tricities on a pickup route. He also sells trapping supplies.he out of Pateros wa. He will also buy whole frozen fur bearers.

Yeah I've sold frozen coyotes to George before. But the problem with that is they take up a lot of space whole and he told he wouldn't pay more if I skinned them. So I figure if I skin them I might as well do it all and take them to an auction.
