Wolf Hunting MT question
« on: June 13, 2013, 07:41:12 PM »
So....from what I can gather here,
http://fwp.mt.gov/hunting/
it would cost $60 total for a non-resident to hunt wolf? is this correct?

Other question is, I have a place by Lolo, in the bitteroot.... how would I go about hunting wolves there? I have an e-caller and a rabbit decoy, would that work? Or would deer noises be better? bait?  :dunno: Any tips would be welcome.

Correct on the price. They lowered the price of the tag last season to attract more hunters. As to the techniques question not sure, but i will let you know this winter. :)

From what i've seen/heard, if you find elk you will find wolves nearby. Howl to locate and cover alot of ground.

thanks, I know where deer and moose are, not alot of elk near my place though.......Maybe Ill try some fawn in distress followed by howling? The cool thing about wolf hunting MT is no license needed if you call in a yote either.

Gotta be kinda fun/nerveracking howling at the top of your lungs in wolf country!?
