Disk Extreme Accessories Came!!
« on: June 07, 2013, 03:19:39 PM »
I've been waiting for the UPS truck like it's Christmas!  My thumbhole stock, ultimate range rod, scope rings and bases, and easy-load boat-tail sabots (blue) finally came!

I was having lots of trouble loading the bloodlines and Barnes TMZ bullets with yellow sabots, even with my TC power rod.  I resorted to bore butter (which makes the bullets keyhole) to make them load.  The ultimate range rod puts them down just fine.  I'm still curious to see how the blue sabots work with the barnes TMZs.  They do load nice and easy, even with a regular ram rod.

Yes I know I can't hunt with the scope.  I just wanna use it to reduce user error at the range to decide my favorite load.  I can't wait!!

I'm soo jazzed about this rifle.  I'm still working on getting the groups tight at 100 yards, but my last trip to the range was pretty encouraging.  I had some great groups, but had occasional key-hole flyers in the target.  :yike: Either those blue easy-load sabots were too loose to engage the rifling every time, or the rifling was filling up with fouling.  The yellow sabots that came with the Barnes TMZs were really hard to load when I first got to the range, but after about 25 shots, they seemed to go down much easier.  Maybe the barrel just needs to be broken in a little bit? :dunno:

Anyway.  I'm excited about my next trip to the range, and think I'll have my groups tight and consistent enough to lose the scope and switch over to a peep sight!

Think I'm about to pull the trigger on a Disc Extreme, what loads are shooting well for you... no point reinventing the wheel?  I was planning on shooting the 290 gr. TMZ...

Thanks for the tips!
