A back country hunter should have to problem being a low country hunter  :dunno: :chuckle: :chuckle: Just saying ... I am sure someone can help you out here

This hunt will be easy compared to the backcountry.  You should do fine.

Thanks for the all the responses! Im sure i will do just fine. Im no Elk pro, but i have harvested my share. Im always up for unknown challenges but being that this is a popular tag just wanted to see what you guys had to offer. Some tips or pointers from people who have already experienced this hunt never hurts. I appreciate any info greatly and will gladly pass it on to others as you have to me! Thanks again guys

BTW i will keep you all updated as i go!

MADMAX and I both drew Toutle 2 years ago. We got together and did some scouting. We both know where the elk will be. get in touch with one of us.

Wife drew the multi-season tag and Toutle muzzy.  5 minutes from home for the south end.  Did a little scouting today but didn't see any.   Hoping to get her a chance at her 1st bull.  I drew nothing in WA, go figure.

Ive had the Archery bull tag twice and got into some great bulls couple of nice 6x6 and 6x7 bulls but never sealed the deal. Problem is there are a ton of tags given out now and finding a good area is going to be tough. Try packing into the East side upper Kalama drainage. if roads are closed this will get you back away from other hunters and a good chance at a bull.

Get a ST. Helens tree farm map.  Those are great coupled with a google map scouting adventure.  I drew that tag the year before last and it was closed due to high fire danger.  That's probably the only thing thats gonna stop you from getting access.  The DNR land to the north is always open, though.
