Hangman B Mica peak Moose info offered
« on: June 19, 2013, 07:53:15 PM »
Hey Guys,

I was fortunate enough to draw the Hangman B Antlerless moose permit in 2011 and learned a lot about the area and Inland empire paper company and where the majority of the moose hangout and the contacts you need for the gate.

Just thought I would do my part and pass it on if anyone is in need.

Let me know.

Looking for any info. Dads friend drew it. He is 81 now and does not get around the best. Sure he wouldn't mind company if someone ooffered.

That is a good offer Brainb231.  I helped my dad with getting a cow moose in there 4 or 5 years ago; this was before they shut down access.  I quit applying for the unit because (based on what I read) I didn't want to pack a moose out for a couple miles (at least it's downhill though).

Did IEP change the rules or clarify them?  Will they allow access at the gate, or allow ATV's to drive around it like they used to?  If so, I may have to add that unit as some of my choices again.
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

no they have not.. and that gate isnt IEPS...the reason its gated off is due to the landowners that own property up there on the westside.Lots of vandalism they pushed a lawsuit to gate it, so they did. There other options to hunting than there.

I was lucky this year to be drawn for the Hangmen B tag for this 2014 season. I would like to take you up on your offer. I've read a far amount of post on here about the gates being close do to other people messing it up for the rest of us. will they let you drive in after you have a Moose down?

No...unless you get lucky and see one of the people there, but sure isnt something you can rely on. I walk that road training and shed hunt it and I have yet to see anyone that could let u in to give you an idea how little time they are around

the gate at starr road is not staffed at all... it is locked. Walk in only. I have seen it open one time when I was head I up on foot and a log truck was coming out. Another gate is staffed but even from that you can only drive to within a mile of the hunt area and the rest is on foot.

So the gates are unstaffed most of the time. Is there a lot of moose up there on mica peak. Is there any state land up there.

most of the west side of star road beyond the gate is private there is some IEP in there. Pretty much everything east of the road is IEP(starting 1 mile up)..no state land that I know of up there. There is some Dnr land down the road from there, but its a no shooting zone bow only. No gate attendants at Star road
