My understanding is first time hunters BORN after 1972 have to complete hunter's ed, so no, your dad would not have to.

Classes in Lynden  are a $5 donation for a one evening class/hands on.  He is not required to take the class to hunt in Washington but if he ever wants to go out of state I would recommend getting it anyways. Some states require it regardless of what state you live in.

 :yeah: :yeah:

It was a $5 dollar donation, BUT was not given back at the end of the class. They did their speech about funds and then DID NOT give it back. I waited at the door to give the head instructor another $20. When I offered it he just nodded and said put it in the can over there. He did not thank me or seem very appreciative. Kind of a downer after the excitement of the whole class passing.

When I took our other son through HE it was $20. They lined everyone up, had them walk by the guy handing back the money and right up to the guy holding the donation can.

There is no set fee. Most classes are between $5 and $20: not enough to worry about really. If your dad decides to hunt in some other states like Colorado he will need proof of hunter education.
Nature. It's cheaper than therapy.
