Great stories thanks for taking the time. My Grandpas favorite caliber was the .270. August first is close at hand,  I'm looking for my second bear.

Wow...I let this one fall behind some ... :chuckle: :chuckle: I woke up this morning and looked out side ...Man it is the Perfect day to be out bear hunting ..over cast and cloudy and has even cooled off a bit ..I thought about going out today but I was not ready yet ...So today I will start gathering up all my things and getting ready to start hitting it hard starting next weekend ....I like those 1st 15 days in September !!! I am pumped to actually go this year ...I need to get Ted on a good one this year So hopefully that Big Fat Cinnamon shows his face this year .....I may even give the .270 a rest and let him pack the 300 WSM ...Speaking of which I best get my butt out in the garage and load up some ammo ...and the ammo of choice will be  :dunno: :chuckle:  180 Hornaday interlock  :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: Maybe I will change the heading to ( Compliments of 180 gr Hornaday Interlock )  :hello:

So have you ever killed a bear? :chuckle:
I kill elk and eat elk, when I'm not, I'm thinking about killing elk and eating elk.

It doesn't matter what you think...

Just got done with another chore ...just loaded the 300WSM for the 1st time  :yike: even though I had to get help from members to gather all the supplies ... :dunno:   Now I need to get time to get some rounds fired down range ....Hopefully I guessed right on the load  :yike: :yeah:  I loaded 180gr Hornadays with 66.1 gr of IMR 4831... I never had much precise loads with even numbers So we see how they do !

They sure are Pretty !!!

For those who do not know I want you to look at the picture of the bullets ! You notice the ring (retension ring ) around the bullets ...this is why I shoot Hornaday bullets ...that ring makes all the difference in the world for holding a bullet together on impact !!  :twocents: just a little education for the beginners  :chuckle: :chuckle:

I have to agree with you BH45, My dad taught me to reload at ten years old. & he swore by hornaday.  He too loved shooting the 140 grn btsp. And he also shot 55 gr of IMR 4831  out of his 270. I cant begin to recall all the deer and elk he has shot with that load. And many were touching 400 yards. He also shot his Alaska Brown bear with that load.

Glad to here it ... Not bragging or anything but I too have pulled some of the wall shots with a 140 gr Hornaday ...Some were so far most would not believe it  :chuckle: but I have witnesses  that I tell the truth at all times  ;) I just give solid information and if it did not work for me I would not pass it on to someone else ....Not saying there it not other good bullets out there but I know how Hornaday has gotten the job done for me and I am not changing for nothing !  :chuckle:

Hopefully I can get some good footage with them hard at work !  :yeah:

O.K I Guess I will call this the Hornaday Thread   :chuckle: I know I named it after the 140 gr but since all I shoot is Hornaday I will make it compliments of the 140 and Now 180 gr... :dunno: :chuckle: :chuckle: I never loaded for the 300 WSM until now ...and I guarantee you right now I will be loading a sheeeet load more  :dunno: Once I got her dialed in I shot a 3 shot group ...waiting about 5 minutes in between shots So the barrel cooled ...Once you learn how to squeeze a trigger you never forget  :dunno: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: reason I threw that in was because I have not shot a rifle in months and sometimes a guy can get a little rusty but not the case here ! So I have all our stuff packed for our bear hunt tomorrow ...As long as Teddy gets his butt out of bed we are in for a nice hike tomorrow morning ...I am actually really pumped because I know if the blueberries are ripe in my honey hole something is going to die and the way that gun is shooting I seriously feel sorry for whoever wants to step inside those crosshairs .... Ted will be my shooter and I will have my video camera ...hopefully we can talk the talk ...
