Not picking on ya Smoss. Your just making allot of statements about those who can and do carry when you know dam well you would if you could! You have said it before in other posts like this.

I carry a Ruger Alaskan 44 mag on me. Im 6-4 and 280. Lifted my whole life. Im not bragging but this is my situation. I can fight like a Grizzly and am as strong almost. Someone threatens me with any kind of weapon besides a gun you wont see my 44. I dont need it. I would avoid it at all costs unless its the very last resort.

As far as the people who use it as a "god" tool. That must have been in your bangin days? Typical hard working, working, law abiding people dont act like that. But you said you have seen tons?

There the reason I carry!

I've said twice now just in this thread. That If I could, I absolutely would, also to add to that point. I said "SOME" people use it like that. Not all. That's like saying All hunters are unethical hunters. No, just some.

And I never "Banged" That's pretty offensive. I've just grown up in a drug infested neighborhood most my life to where you couldn't walk down the street without getting messed with, Not so bad these days. But It sure was when I was younger.

The only bear meat I have is the backstrap, and Im too afraid to screw it up - to cook it. Everyone else got the rest somehow :dunno:

You aren't going to screw it up. It is not the same as deer/elk.....season it up, crockpot or slow cook it, grill it low and slow....give it a go.

I know this is off topic, but something that Smossy said bears repeating. It was about carrying a knife. It is my opinion that one should always carry a knife, there is no better implement to have out in the woods than a good knife.  A firearm is good to have in case of self defense, but a good knife is one of the most basic and essential tools one can have readily available.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled topic.

Maybe that's a good moral for this thread. "Whether or not you chose to pack a firearm, take a good knife anyway. You know you'll use a knife."
