help identifying old rifle

I can't post pics,sorry.
it s stamped fabrics de areas 1896 and on the side of the barrel "A 536" and the bolt has 5123 stamped in it. I've goggled for a while and can't find anything. I don't even know what the caliber is.

Are you sure it isn't "Fabrica de Armas" ?

you could do a chamber casting.  that will tell you alot

Spanish company, they made Mauser type rifles back in the day, most likely 7x57mm or maybe 7.92x57mm.

my gut says spanish 1893 mauser made in 1896.  if not over-stamped 7.62 NATO, then 7x57 mauser
