looking for banks lake info
« on: July 19, 2013, 09:43:57 AM »
Planning a trip in a couple of weeks so my boys can catch their first walleye.  I haven't been there since the draw down a few years ago.  I think my last trip there was 2008ish.  Is the lake back to pre-draw down level right now or will I need to launch further out.  Camping at million dollar mile

Thanks

The lake is as normal as ever as far as water level goes, but the walleye bite has been very slow this year.  Nothing consistant, and I can't see it changing this time of the year.  Good luck though.

Any better ideas for walleye right now?  12ft. boat so I don't want/need a lot of open water with blustery winds.  Also a place I can pitch a tent for a few days without a discover pass.

Well Banks will be the roughest water around here, so I'd say else where should fine.  Might try the Spokane Arm up Roosevelt.  I'd guess you'd pick up a few bugeyes there in two weeks.

The walleye bite has gotten better, just last week we were catching our limit. It is really spotty but we fish mostly the south end of the lake.

I know the south end but, it's been so long I fear going around those islands without a depth finder.  15 years ago, I could fish around the islands blind and be ok.  I was going to stay in the flats off of Million Dollar Mile.  15-25'.  back in the day we used to just kill them in there with a lot less of those damned little nippy perch.
