What good will that do?  They have no say.  Add to that the number of elected officials who say "YOU WILL GET ALONG" and they are just there to bash on and distract you.  The only way you will get action is to email your state and federal elected officials.  Then back it up with a vote accordingly when they run again.

Now, for the other side.  What I heard was the tribe is tired of getting bashed by sport fishers when the sport fishers are fishing on their land.  So we have another case of a landowner getting fed up with disrespectful behavior.  It this true?  I don't know but, all one has to do is read various hunting and fishing forums with a lot of bad information and claims with no facts and think that maybe there is some truth to it.

Just my  :twocents:

I think its ridiculous that some sort of agreement cant be made......................especially since this is a humpy year and that river is usually loaded with humpies, I know I know there are plenty more rivers open to fish but come on!!! They need to be respectful of each others fishing privileges............  :twocents:

I have no problem with tribal fishing. What i do have a problem with is an indian standing on the bank of skokomish with his shotgun saying he will shoot a whity if he goes near his net. This is one of the indians that nets right above the bridge.
Maturity is when you have the power to destroy someone who did you wrong but instead you breathe, walk away, and let life take care of them.

The selfish puke tribe has been trying to push the sporties off that river for a few years now, always a lame excuse, and its just going to get worse until sporties raise hell with everyone down the line instead of complaining on message boards, time would be better spent sending emails.

Apparently nobody listed to the program this morning...if you read the announcement by Nelly (Outdoor Line) it was a promo for their interview with Phil Anderson this morning...Phil said they are close to an agreement with a formal proposal already pitched to the tribe, awaiting approval from the Puyallup Tribal council on Monday and there should be an announcement to the season on the Puyallup on Tuesday...he used the words he is "cautiously optimistic" about having a season similar to those in the past for August but there will be some additional full closure dates in Sept & Oct (coho seasons mostly) as a compromise...please, everyone, don't start bashing and starting rumors or else this forum will turn into the likes of some of the "other" ones that are fishing based...and whether we like it or not the arguments from the tribes only pertain to their lands. So if its public land then we have more say...no different than the Nisqually really when it comes to the Lewis-McChord lands where the military can say "no access" or even a farmer saying "no access" on his land (like on the Samish) even if the river is open. Plus KC was posting a report for PNP, not the Puyallup, this threat went way off topic so I thought I would try and end the arguments and turn it back to KC...great report, and great to here they are almost to the south sound in numbers (give it a week...they will be down here too...!) Make sure to check out the upcoming issue of Northwest Sportsman for some NEW boat and bank areas for the salt fisheries for pinks in the deep south (Nisqually bound fish)...Pinks are easy to catch from the shore in the salt, so don't stress about the rivers!

Ok if they don't want people standing on their land then what about boats? just like when a river runs across private land we should be able to fish from a boat still, right?

AND when the state sets a season isn't it bases on the amount of fish that can be taken from the run. What does land access have to do with any of it? Since when does WDFW care? If they know the tribe is going to not allow the rest of us to use their land to harvest our 50% then why are limits not being increased along the migration rout to make up for those fish that won't be harvested? It shoule be a 10 fish limit on pinks from Area 3 all the way to the upper limits of fishing on the Puy.  :dunno:

WDFW should open the river for fishing. If the tribe wants to limit access then they can sell passes just like other tribes. They are missing a huge opportunity with this. maybe 5$ per day? they could make more than the Casino with this.

I agree humpy = dogfood but we are kidding our self if we think this is only going to be for Humps.
They don't get humps in the Skoke and that is the other river they are having this issue with, right?

I don't fish either river but I see this gaining momentum and affecting rivers I do fish.

I remember when they did this last time on the Skok and they said it was so there was no conflict between the two different fishing groups. They opened the river in September instead of the normal august 1 opener......... when the river opened to sport fishermen, the banks looked like a science experiment with all the rotting salmon carcasses laying all over the banks of the river...................... :yike: :yike:

there was pictures taken, complaints sent via email to the news and WDFW..................does it look like any thing has really helped..........no,not in my opinion cause there is always some sort of conflict between sports fishermen and the tribal fishermen........... :bash: :bash:

In no way shape or form am i picking a fight over Humpies man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :lol4:

But I will say that on a humpie year its the perfect time to teach a kid what the bite feels like from a fish!!! But only iof you can tolerate the crowds that seem come from the wood work during this run of fish!!!
