Kokanee thread

I smoked up a batch of kokanee and silvers Saturday, they turned out great.
We went back to Alder yesterday and caught 9 more kokanee. Had one on that was pulling line like crazy but lost it. I caught a 6 incher that was barely hooked, so I returned him to the water. It was about 5 feet from the boat when an Eagle dove in with a splash and snagged the fish! That was awesome!

I have to rant though, So many boaters on Alder lake are totally inconsiderate to those around them.

Lake Roosevelt Kok's are hot right now. 15" to 25". Lots of 3 to 4 pounders. Very few clipped fish so limit usually only 2 fish. But their nice!

How are you catching them and where? Tried down by whitestone yesterday and only caught a few trout.

You are close. Goat Farm just mile down river res side. Apex pink/ white tipped with corn. They are all depths. Mark them and go there.

Lake Stevens is still producing.... took a buddy from work today who has only fished Lake Keechelus for them. He was shocked to see the size of the fish we were getting (the fish in Keechelus are over populated and stunted....an 8"er is a good fish up there) we ended up with a dozen keepers in the 12 to 14" range and a big one at just over 3lbs! Lost and missed quite a few and released a handfull of dinks. Saw a decent number of boats but wasn't seeing too many nets coming out. Seemed like most were trolling too fast.

We hit up Riffe for Silvers on Saturday. I was putting them in a bucket by my motor, had a nice 22 incher jump out of the bucket! Luckily he landed back in the boat. We were keeping a close count on how many fish we had so we would head home with our limits. I counted ten fish (My son and I) so we stowed our gear and headed to the dock. My son takes the fish to the cleaning station while I store our gear and tie down the boat. I head to the cleaning station and look at the fish, there are only 8 fish? I ask what happened to the other two, he says there were only eight in the bucket. Since were both checked the bucket had ten fish, the only possible outcome was they jumped out like the other fish, but they made it over the side of the boat, LOL

We also went to Alder Lake on Sunday for Kokanee.
Finally got my new Garmin echo 200 up and running! Nice to have a functional fish finder again. We had a slow day, lots of hits, only 13 boated. One over 20 inches, and my son had one on that was huge but it through the hook at the boat.
My wife forgot to set the free spool lever on the real she was using. I was re-rigging my line and I happen to look up in time to see the tail end of her line go flying off her real 
I through it in reverse and was able to grab the line before it disappeared. I reattached the line and handed it back to her to real in. She had a fish on that had helped pull the line off the real. LOL 

 We watched the Osprey dive in for a fish, then an eagle come down and took the fish away! That was like watching a dragster chasing a miata. The eagle was incredibly fast, but the osprey could corner like crazy.

What a beautiful day to be on the water!

That's funny, we were on the lake Sunday also We were on the dock's nailed a trout, cooked it on the spot, continued to fish while eating fish, Doesn't get fresher then that.
